"what do you see that makes you say that?"
student 1: "because the blue crosses look like the windows i see in church"
student 2: "but why isn't she wearing her shoe?"
student 3: "maybe she took it off, maybe she was tired from standing up in church. she only has a half sock on."

simply asking "what do you see?" can elicit surprisingly insightful responses.
